Arsenal is rekindling their pursuit of Ezri Konsa, the Aston Villa central defender, as they seek to bolster their defensive lineup.

Konsa, aged 28, is currently on holiday following the World Cup and is absent from the Villa squad for their Super Cup match against Paris St-Germain this Wednesday.

The Gunners initially attempted to sign Konsa earlier this summer, offering around £30m for the England international. However, Aston Villa values him at £60m, leading to a stalled negotiation.

Last season, Konsa made an impressive 48 appearances across all competitions for Aston Villa, contributing to their Europa League victory.

Having successfully secured Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle, the Premier League champions are now intensifying their interest in Konsa. His versatility is particularly appealing to the management at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal acknowledges that they will need to significantly enhance their initial offer to have a chance at acquiring Konsa. However, it remains uncertain if Villa would allow their defender to depart for a fee below their valuation.

In addition to Konsa, multiple sources have indicated that the Gunners have engaged in preliminary discussions with Tottenham regarding a potential transfer for their club captain Cristian Romero. Nonetheless, Spurs are reportedly unwilling to sell the 28-year-old to their fierce rivals, despite Arsenal's curiosity regarding this surprising potential transfer.
