Leandro Paredes has received a 10-game ban following severe penalties imposed by FIFA on Argentina due to a chaotic brawl after the World Cup 2026 final against Spain.

The incident erupted when Paredes was seen throwing Gavi to the ground after Spain secured victory in the final, which was decided by Ferran Torres’ goal in extra time.

In addition to Paredes, his teammate Nahuel Molina has been handed a seven-game ban for igniting the melee by striking Spain captain Rodri. Paredes escalated the situation further by grabbing Eric Garcia by the throat.

Argentina coach Roberto Ayala also received a three-game ban for his involvement in the altercation. Notably, FIFA confirmed that no red card had been issued to Paredes during the match.

The disciplinary committee's investigation revealed multiple breaches of FIFA's code, leading to significant fines and bans for the three-time world champions. The Argentinian Football Association (AFA) faced fines totaling $321,000 for various infractions, including:
