Antonio Conte is set to leave Napoli at the end of the current season for personal reasons, despite having a contract that extends until the summer of 2027. This decision follows a successful tenure where he secured a Serie A title in the 2024-25 season and a Supercoppa Italiana during the current campaign.

After joining Napoli in the summer of 2024, Conte revitalized the club, leading them back to success after a challenging previous season. Key financial investments, particularly the signings of Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku, played a crucial role in this turnaround. In his first season, Napoli focused solely on domestic competitions, having missed out on European tournaments the year before.

However, the second season proved to be more difficult due to injuries and the pressures of the Champions League, which hindered their Serie A campaign and their ability to keep pace with Inter. Conte had indicated his intention to step back over a month ago, stating, "The President knows what I will do, he knows that since at least one month."

Looking ahead, Conte is now a leading candidate for the Italian national team position, particularly following the Azzurri's failure to qualify for the World Cup for the third consecutive time. The new Italian FA president will be elected on June 22, and whoever wins the election may have the chance to reappoint Conte, who previously managed the national team from 2014 to 2016, guiding them to the 2016 UEFA Euro quarterfinals.
