Former world champion Andy Ruiz Jr has vowed to continue his boxing journey after suffering a setback in his comeback fight against Damian Knyba from Poland at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. The 36-year-old heavyweight, who rose to fame by defeating Anthony Joshua seven years ago, faced his fourth fight since losing to Joshua in December 2019.

In a bout that showcased his struggles, Ruiz Jr endured a knockdown in the seventh round but managed to recover, only to ultimately lose by unanimous decision. The judges scored the match 117-110, 114-113, and 114-113 in favor of Knyba, who improved his record to 18 wins and 1 defeat.

After the fight, Ruiz Jr expressed his desire for a rematch, stating, "I don't know, I think it was just him holding. Every time I tried to come in, he'd hold me really tight, and I just couldn't let my combinations go. He played a good game plan, but I'd love to run it back and do things a lot different."

Ruiz Jr attributed his performance to a long layoff, mentioning, "It was just a long layoff, and it was a great opponent. I didn't want to take an easy fight, so that's why I took Damian. He's a big guy. But we've got to take risks. I've still got it in me, man. I've just got to stay active and I want to fight again."

As he looks to rebound, Ruiz Jr remains determined to reclaim his former glory.
