Starting the 2026-2027 hockey season, hockey fans will find some of their favorite teams’ games exclusively streaming on Amazon Prime. On Wednesday, Amazon announced a multi-year deal with the National Hockey League that grants Prime Video the exclusive local streaming rights for six NHL teams.

The teams involved in this agreement include:

• Carolina Hurricanes
• Anaheim Ducks
• Columbus Blue Jackets
• Dallas Stars
• Minnesota Wild
• St. Louis Blues

Games will be streamed exclusively for fans residing in the teams' regional territories, including pre- and post-game shows along with other team programming. Each participating team will soon announce specific details regarding their streaming packages and subscription options.

NHL Chief Media Officer and Senior Executive Vice President David Proper stated, "Fans want an easy way to find and follow their favorite teams, and this agreement with Prime Video gives Clubs the flexibility to meet that demand as the market evolves."

Proper mentioned to the Sports Business Journal that the NHL considered multiple offers before choosing Amazon's proposal. "We talked to a whole bunch of different people, and everybody had good proposals and a lot of good partners. At the end of the day, we negotiated all of them as far as we could and then took them to the clubs, and the clubs opted for the Amazon opportunity."

Currently, Prime Video already features coverage of several local sports teams, including the Seattle Kraken. With this new deal, Amazon now holds exclusive local streaming rights for a total of seven NHL teams. Fans outside local markets can still catch games through NHL Center Ice.

Amazon's sports offerings are available on compatible devices, including browsers and Prime Video apps.
