One month after turning 38, Alexander Volkanovski, a two-time UFC featherweight champion, prepares for a significant challenge against Movsar Evloev at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi. Since reclaiming the 145-pound title from Diego Lopes in April 2025, Volkanovski (28-4) has been the only top featherweight openly seeking a match with Evloev (20-0), despite the latter's impressive recent performances.

Evloev secured his title shot after a majority decision victory over Lerone Murphy in March, which followed Volkanovski's dominant rematch against Lopes at UFC 325. Volkanovski expressed his commitment to fighting the best, stating, "If you are the best, fight who is the best. It is that simple."

With a victory, Volkanovski would surpass Jose Aldo for the most featherweight title wins in UFC history with nine and equal Aldo's record of seven title defenses. However, he acknowledges the challenge posed by Evloev, who has proven his endurance and skill in previous fights.

Volkanovski respects Evloev's fitness and ground game but remains confident in his abilities. He stated, "I know he can push for 25 minutes, but all of those problems that he can give most people are just not problems for me."

Having lost only once in his last 14 bouts, Volkanovski is determined to maintain his dominance. He predicts an exciting fight, insisting it will take place on the feet, stating, "I'm looking to go out there and do this in wild fashion. It's going to be exciting because it's going to be on the feet."
