Former England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has officially signed a new one-year contract with Celtic. The 32-year-old joined the Glasgow club in February after being without a team for six months following the termination of his contract with Besiktas.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made an impressive debut, scoring a last-minute winner against Livingston, and he went on to feature in 12 matches for Celtic, with seven of those appearances coming as a substitute. His contributions played a significant role in the team's resurgence under interim manager Martin O'Neill.

Celtic successfully retained their title, clinching a final-day victory over long-time leaders Heart of Midlothian, and also secured the Scottish Cup. The team's success prompted O'Neill to offer Oxlade-Chamberlain an extended contract after being appointed permanently.

The midfielder expressed his excitement about his new deal, stating, "It was an incredible time last season and to be part of that success in winning the league and Scottish Cup was so special." He also mentioned his eagerness to reunite with his teammates as they prepare for another successful season.

O'Neill's squad is set to travel to Ireland this weekend, with their first pre-season match scheduled against Shelbourne on Tuesday. Oxlade-Chamberlain, who began his career at Southampton and has won the Premier League, Champions League, and Fifa Club World Cup with Liverpool, will join Celtic at their training camp in Portugal. As of now, Celtic has yet to make any new signings this summer.
