Manchester United is reportedly monitoring Pierre Kalulu, a defender for Juventus, as the Italian club faces potential financial challenges following their failure to secure Champions League football.

The 25-year-old French defender has emerged as one of Juventus’ most dependable players, drawing interest not only from United but also from Tottenham. In a bid to retain him, Juventus is attempting to offer Kalulu an improved long-term contract.

From Manchester United's perspective, while Kalulu is a noteworthy candidate, he is not their top priority. The club is currently focusing on strengthening their midfield and attack, having recently finalized a deal for Éderson, the Atalanta midfielder.

Despite this, United recognizes the need to bolster their defense, especially with the demands of Champions League football on the horizon. Kalulu’s versatility—capable of playing both centre-back and right-back—combined with his speed and comfort in possession, makes him an appealing option.

Juventus’ recent sixth-place finish in Serie A has created a pressing financial situation, as emphasized by CEO Damien Comolli, who acknowledged the necessity to sell players to maintain competitiveness.

Kalulu’s impressive performance this season has led to him being highlighted as one of Juventus’ standout defenders, with some reviews even naming him their best defensive performer for the 2025-26 season.

While Juventus may consider offers in the €35m-€40m range, their preference remains to extend his contract rather than part ways cheaply. For Manchester United, if the price is right, Kalulu could represent a savvy addition to their squad.
