Three-time Olympic champion Adam Ramsay-Peaty expressed his newfound sense of peace despite finishing with a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games. Following an emotional race where he was surpassed by Australia’s Sam Williamson for gold and Filip Nowacki of Jersey for silver, Ramsay-Peaty broke down in tears but maintained a resilient outlook.

In an interview on BBC Breakfast, he stated, "I’ve got very tough skin that has been built quite aggressively over these last six months." He emphasized his values and morals, saying, "I can look in the mirror and be at peace with myself and the person that I am."

Ramsay-Peaty downplayed the setback, noting, "No matter what way we look at it, it’s two lengths of the swimming baths and we’re trying to do it as fast as we can. My issue is a simple one I can fix."

He highlighted the importance of his support system, including his wife Holly, who is expecting their first child. He reflected warmly on fatherhood, sharing, "When you have children, they take a lot of work and a lot of energy...what an incredible gift, an incredible blessing."

The swimmer's personal life has been under scrutiny, particularly regarding ongoing family tensions with his parents, Mark and Caroline Peaty. Their absence at his lavish wedding to Holly, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, drew attention. Caroline hinted at external pressures affecting their family dynamics, stating on Instagram, "There is something or someone at play who wants to destroy our family."

Despite the challenges, Ramsay-Peaty remains focused on his career and family, asserting, "I don’t want to get lost in just being an athlete, I want to get lost in being a father and being a husband."
