Tuchel Emphasizes England's Preparation for World Cup Heat with Team GB's Support

Thomas Tuchel has expressed confidence in England's ability to navigate the challenges posed by heat and humidity at the upcoming World Cup. Drawing on experiences from Team GB and other specialists, Tuchel aims to equip his squad with strategies to adapt to the extreme weather conditions. A portion of Tuchel’s 26-player squad has already arrived in Miami for a 10-day hot-weather acclimatization camp. Notable players such as Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Noni Madueke, and Eberechi Eze have been given extra recovery time following the Champions League final. Meanwhile, Dean Henderson of Crystal Palace, who played in the Conference League final, is also expected to join later. The remaining 21 players, some vacationing in the Americas and Caribbean, will gather in West Palm Beach to prepare for a friendly match against New Zealand in Tampa on Saturday. Tuchel acknowledged that the heat could be detrimental after a grueling club season, stating, "We are not used to being in this kind of heat and humidity... There will be a lot of challenges in this World Cup." The head coach emphasized their proactive measures: Cooling strategies tailored for individual players Specific training exposure limits to the sun Collaborative efforts with specialists to enhance acclimatization Despite concerns regarding heat stress and recovery times, Tuchel insists that England is not using the weather as an excuse. He remains optimistic about the team's potential, noting, "I saw a lot of quality... that gave me the full belief and excitement that we can go a long way."
