Catalan Sports Community Unites to Support Gran Recapte 2025 Campaign

The Unió de Federacions Esportives de Catalunya (UFEC) and the Banc dels Aliments have joined forces to promote the Gran Recapte 2025, encouraging the entire sports sector to contribute through volunteering, food and financial donations, or organizing related activities. Gerard Esteva, president of UFEC, called on the sports community to fully engage, emphasizing that "a small gesture creates significant change." Roser Brutau, vice president of Banc dels Aliments, highlighted the influential role of athletes as role models who can inspire others. She urged sports clubs to mobilize volunteers for the campaign. Fèlix Capella, responsible for recruitment at the food bank, noted the concerning statistic that 1 in 3 children in Catalonia face poverty, many connected to sports clubs. He appealed to clubs to get involved by volunteering as teams, donating food, or helping spread awareness, adding that signing up is as simple as sending a WhatsApp message. Representatives from notable clubs including FC Barcelona, RCD Espanyol de Barcelona, Girona FC, UE Sant Andreu, and Club de Futbol Missatges de la Pau Catalunya participated in the event, demonstrating broad support for the initiative. This collaboration underscores the sports sector’s commitment to social responsibility and community support ahead of Gran Recapte 2025.
