Unique Penthouse with Lord’s View Hits Market for Charity

A penthouse overlooking Lord’s is making its debut on the market, with all proceeds benefiting a charitable trust. Known as the Lord’s View Penthouse, this unique property boasts a 100-foot private terrace and is the only privately owned residence offering a direct view of the famous St John’s Wood ground. The sale will be conducted via a confidential sealed bid process, which will conclude on 31 July. The proceeds will support a registered charity established by the late owner, Laurence Silman, and his wife Nancy, with a portion designated for a cricket charity. Laurence Silman's brother, Robert Silman, shared insights on the property’s significance: "Laurence saw something in that unfinished rooftop that nobody else did: a place to bring together the people he loved, around the game he loved.” “The terrace became the backdrop to decades of summers measured out in Test matches and ODIs; releasing it now feels like the right moment." Robert emphasized the importance of the charitable aspect, stating it felt fitting for something born from a passion for cricket to give back to the sport. The late Laurence Silman was a life member of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the organization responsible for owning and operating Lord’s. He envisioned the property after acquiring the unfinished upper level from a bankrupt developer, turning it into a cherished retreat adjacent to the home of English cricket.
