Scotland Women Set for T20 Tri-Series Against Bangladesh and Netherlands in Edinburgh
Scotland women are gearing up for their first home matches since 2022, hosting a T20 tri-series against Bangladesh and the Netherlands from late May to early June. All six matches will take place at The Grange in Edinburgh. Kathryn Bryce, the team captain, expressed her excitement, stating, "I'm incredibly excited for this opportunity for us to play in my hometown of Edinburgh." She emphasized the significance of this series, noting that it marks her first chance to represent Scotland in Edinburgh, having previously missed home matches due to contracting Covid-19. Following the tri-series, Scotland will head to England for two additional fixtures against unnamed opponents, crucial preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup. Scotland has been drawn in Group Two for the World Cup, alongside England, Ireland, West Indies, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. Their campaign kicks off against Ireland at Old Trafford on 13 June, followed by a historic match against England at Headingley on 20 June—the first-ever World Cup encounter between the two nations in the UK. Craig Wallace, the head coach, highlighted the importance of these matches, stating, "These matches are hugely important as preparation for us ahead of the World Cup." He noted the significance of competing against familiar, strong teams. Scotland secured their World Cup spot during the qualifying tournament in Nepal last February. In their previous World Cup appearance in 2024, they faced challenges, losing all four group matches. Bryce added, "There's a monumental few months coming up," emphasizing the rarity of playing at home and the potential for a supportive crowd. She looks forward to competing against Bangladesh and Netherlands as vital preparation for the World Cup, eagerly anticipating the chance to perform in front of local fans.
