Scarlets' Sam Costelow Faces Long Road to Recovery After Ankle Surgery

Fly-half Sam Costelow will miss the remainder of the Scarlets' season following ankle surgery, putting his participation in Wales' Nations Championship campaign in July at risk. Costelow sustained the injury during Wales' Six Nations defeat against Scotland in Cardiff in February, which subsequently sidelined him for the final two matches of the tournament. At just 25 years old, Costelow had been making a significant impact, having been recalled to start against the Scots, where he showcased his skills in a narrow defeat before being forced off due to injury. In his absence, Ospreys outside-half Dan Edwards stepped in for the remainder of the competition. As a result of his surgery, Costelow will not participate in the last four games of the Scarlets' season in the United Rugby Championship (URC), which concludes in mid-May.
