Rory McIlroy Overcomes Toe Troubles to Prepare for US PGA Championship

Rory McIlroy has resumed his preparation for the US PGA Championship on Wednesday morning, despite battling persistent toe troubles. The 37-year-old golfer is aiming to secure back-to-back majors at Aronimink Golf Club in south-west Philadelphia. His practice round on Tuesday was cut short after just a few holes due to discomfort. At one point, McIlroy had to remove his shoe, revealing a blister on the little toe of his right foot that he disclosed during last week’s Truist Championship. Earlier this week, he reportedly ripped the nail off his toe, which left him visibly struggling. However, McIlroy made a determined return to the putting green shortly after 9 am local time (2 pm BST) on Wednesday, before transitioning to the practice range. His practice round commenced on the 10th hole, alongside notable players including former champion Padraig Harrington, Ryder Cup team-mate Shane Lowry, and Spaniard Angel Ayora. Observers noted that McIlroy appeared to be moving better compared to Tuesday, where he had been limping significantly.
