Red Bull Revamps Technical Team to Boost Performance After Tough Start to 2026 F1 Season

Red Bull Racing has initiated a significant reshuffle within its technical department, aiming to enhance performance and innovation following a challenging beginning to the 2026 Formula 1 season. Ben Waterhouse, who joined Red Bull in 2017 as head of performance engineering, has been promoted to chief performance and design engineer. In this expanded role, he will report to technical director Pierre Wache and oversee both design and vehicle performance. This strategic move is intended to bolster the integration of these areas, accelerating the development of competitive, high-performing solutions. Additionally, Andrea Landi will join the team from sister team Racing Bulls on July 1 as the new head of performance. Landi has previously served as deputy technical director at Racing Bulls and has experience with Ferrari as deputy head of vehicle performance. He will report directly to Waterhouse, further strengthening the technical leadership. A statement from Red Bull emphasized that these changes are part of the team's long-term technical ambitions, reflecting a commitment to developing internal talent while attracting leading expertise from within the sport. Currently, Red Bull sits sixth in the Constructors' Championship after three races, trailing Mercedes by 119 points. The team has faced challenges, including the departure of key personnel like Gianpiero Lambiase, who will leave to join McLaren in 2028 after his contract ends.
