Record Ticket Prices Set for Rugby World Cup 2027 Final in Sydney

The Rugby World Cup 2027 is making headlines as the top-priced ticket for the final will exceed £1,000 for the first time in the tournament's history. A category-one seat for the showpiece event on 13 November at Sydney's Stadium Australia is priced at A$1,950 (£1,035). In comparison, the highest ticket price at France 2023 was 950 euros (£823), while Japan 2019 offered the most-expensive final seat at £717. Previous tournaments saw prices at £715 for England 2015 and £545 for New Zealand 2011. Organisers have defended this pricing strategy, asserting that the high-end ticket prices align with other major sporting events. Chris Stanley, managing director of Rugby World Cup 2027, emphasized the importance of accessibility, stating, "There's a lot of work that goes into developing our ticketing strategy... to make it accessible, like all major events, there is an element where you have to charge more at the top end." The cheapest adult seats are available for A$40 (£21), while child tickets are priced at A$20 (£11) for all games except the semi-finals and final. Unlike the dynamic pricing system used in the upcoming men's World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, Rugby World Cup tickets are sold at set prices. With more than 750,000 of the tournament's 2.5 million tickets already sold in a pre-sale phase, fans are gearing up for what promises to be a highly competitive event. The ticketing window for securing seats across the tournament will close on 2 June, with notifications about oversubscribed fixtures sent out on 23 June.
