Joe Brady's Support Brightens Keon Coleman's Future with Buffalo Bills

An eyebrow-raising comment from Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula created uncertainty around wide receiver Keon Coleman's future with the franchise. However, the promotion of offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach has shifted the narrative positively for Coleman. On Thursday, Brady made an emphatic statement regarding Coleman's status for 2026, proclaiming that the receiver "is going to be on our football team." After the Bills parted ways with coach Sean McDermott, Pegula criticized the coaching staff when addressing Coleman's underwhelming performance over two seasons. He defended general manager Brandon Beane for drafting Coleman, stating he wouldn’t have selected him with the No. 33 pick in 2024 without the coaching staff's insistence. Brady revealed his support for Coleman, saying, "I told Keon when I got hired, the best thing to happen to Keon Coleman was me being his head coach. I was one of the ones who stood on the table for Keon Coleman, and I believe in him. Keon Coleman is going to be a Buffalo Bill." In the 2025 season, Coleman struggled to maintain a starting position after a promising rookie year, recording 38 passes for 404 yards and four touchdowns. He caught only two passes in the Bills' two playoff games, one of which was a touchdown. Brady acknowledged that it was a learning year for Coleman, emphasizing that the young player will continue to grow and succeed as long as he manages his off-field responsibilities. Coleman has two years remaining on his rookie contract. While Pegula’s comments hinted at doubts from the front office, Brady's elevation could be pivotal in determining whether Coleman stays with the team or is traded. Quarterback Josh Allen expressed confidence that Coleman will not only remain with the Bills in 2026 but will also rebound from the ownership's comments.
