Nat Sciver-Brunt Aims to Ignite Passion for Cricket Ahead of T20 World Cup

Nat Sciver-Brunt has called on her team to seize the opportunity to inspire the next generation of England cricketers during this summer’s T20 World Cup. England kicks off their home campaign next Friday against Sri Lanka, aspiring to emulate the success of the Lionesses and Red Roses in captivating the nation during their respective tournaments. As part of Metro Bank’s ‘This Feels Different’ campaign, Sciver-Brunt, along with teammates Sophia Dunkley and Lauren Bell, was featured on the Piccadilly Lights to promote visibility for women's cricket and encourage young girls to take up the sport. Having recently recovered from a calf injury, Sciver-Brunt expressed to the Press Association: “What an opportunity we have to inspire so many people. We have a chance to create a new team for 20 years’ time and inspire that spark in someone to play the game or just join a club.” Reflecting on her experience on the Piccadilly Lights, she stated: “It’s really special... It was really amazing to see ourselves up there.” Despite concerns over her fitness, England’s vice-captain Charlie Dean led the team to series victories against New Zealand and India. Sciver-Brunt anticipates participating in warm-up matches against Australia and India, noting, “Everything is tracking in the right way at the moment.” A fit Sciver-Brunt is crucial for England's aspirations of their first T20 World Cup title since 2009. She added: “That is the goal, to be lifting the trophy... we’ll concentrate on what we’re trying to do.” With a week remaining before the tournament, Sciver-Brunt remains focused on the journey ahead, emphasizing the importance of taking it one ball at a time.
