Marc Marquez Faces Setback with Foot Fracture, Missing Key MotoGP Races

Defending MotoGP champion Marc Marquez will sit out the remainder of the French Grand Prix and the upcoming Catalan Grand Prix after sustaining a foot fracture during a crash on Saturday. The incident occurred on the final lap of Saturday's sprint at Le Mans, where the Ducati rider was thrown off his bike. At the moment of the crash, the 33-year-old attempted to put his right foot down on the track, but instead, he was flipped over the handlebars, resulting in his bike cartwheeling away. In an official statement, Ducati confirmed that Marquez suffered a "fifth metatarsal fracture in his right foot" and announced that he would travel to Madrid for surgery. Currently, Marquez is ranked fifth in the championship standings and has yet to secure a podium finish this season, highlighting a challenging start to his title defense.
