Marco Silva Nears Benfica Agreement as Fulham Contract Awaits Decision

Fulham head coach Marco Silva is on the verge of finalizing a deal to take over at Benfica. His current contract at Craven Cottage is set to expire this month, yet there has been no official announcement regarding his departure. Although Fulham has proposed a contract renewal to the 48-year-old manager, Silva has not yet accepted the offer. Reports indicate that negotiations between Silva and Benfica have advanced significantly in recent days, with an agreement seemingly imminent. Benfica is searching for a new head coach following the departure of Jose Mourinho, who recently signed a three-year contract with Real Madrid. Mourinho, 63, returned to Benfica in September and managed to secure a third-place finish in the Primeira Liga. Silva joined Fulham in July 2021 after leaving Everton, successfully leading the club back to the Premier League in his first season following their relegation. The Cottagers finished 11th in the top flight last season, amassing 52 points, which tied them with Chelsea.
