Joe Flacco Signs One-Year Deal to Return to Bengals for 19th NFL Season
Joe Flacco is set to return to the Cincinnati Bengals on a one-year deal worth $6 million, with the potential for an additional $3 million in incentives, as reported by CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones. This marks a significant move for the veteran quarterback, who is gearing up for his 19th NFL season at the age of 41. Flacco joins a Bengals team that recently welcomed fellow quarterback Josh Johnson, who also turns 40 on May 15. The decision to bring Flacco back is bolstered by his impressive performance in the 2025 season, as well as comments from Bengals coach Zac Taylor, who expressed confidence in Flacco's abilities. Zac Taylor stated, "I think he'd be valuable. I think he's a starting quarterback in the NFL." Flacco's experience and leadership will be crucial for the Bengals moving forward. Originally drafted as the 18th overall pick in 2008, Flacco spent his first 11 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, where he famously led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2012, earning Super Bowl MVP honors. After being replaced by Lamar Jackson in 2018, Flacco played for four different teams before landing with the Bengals last season. In 2025, Flacco made six starts for Cincinnati after being traded mid-season, contributing to an offense that averaged 27.2 points per game. However, the defense struggled, allowing an average of 34 points per game during that stretch. Despite only winning one of those starts, Flacco's numbers were noteworthy, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.
