Henry Pollock Aims for Redemption with British and Irish Lions After Australia Snub

Henry Pollock expresses a strong desire to return to the British and Irish Lions after experiencing disappointment from not playing in a Test match during the recent tour of Australia. The 20-year-old forward was part of Andy Farrell's 38-man squad, making headlines shortly after his England debut, yet he could not secure a spot in the Test lineup as the Lions achieved a 2-1 series victory against the Wallabies. Pollock had the opportunity to compete in matches against Western Force and ACT Brumbies, but he reflected on the hurt of not being included in the Test squad. "It was an amazing experience being there so young, learning off all those amazing internationals and coaches," Pollock shared with Sky Sports. He acknowledged the bittersweet nature of his journey, stating, "There's still a little bit of hurt I didn't play in a Test match. So there's definitely still some unfinished business." Looking ahead, Pollock has set his sights on the 2029 tour to New Zealand, hoping to play a pivotal role in another Lions triumph. He noted that the experience has motivated him, saying, "The intention was to go there and play. I feel like he picked me to go and play that Test match." Despite the disappointment, he remains positive, emphasizing his commitment to contributing to the team: "I was happy enough being there, being a squad member and making sure the boys trained well and got over the line in the end, and that's what we did."
