Harry Wilson Withdraws from Wales Squad for Friendlies Against Ghana and Romania

Fulham forward Harry Wilson has withdrawn from Wales' upcoming friendlies against Ghana and Romania next month, alongside Ben Cabango, a defender from Swansea City. At 29, Wilson has established himself as a key player for Wales under manager Craig Bellamy, scoring 12 of his 17 career international goals in the last three years. As his contract with Fulham is set to expire this summer, he is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, Everton, and Leeds United. Cabango, who remained an unused substitute during Wales' World Cup play-off loss to Bosnia-Herzegovina in March, has made 47 appearances for Swansea this season. In their place, the uncapped duo Cameron Congreve and Ollie Bostock have been called up as replacements: Cameron Congreve, 22, spent the season on loan at Dundee. Ollie Bostock, 19, from West Bromwich Albion, holds two caps with the Wales Under-21 team. Wales will host Ghana, who are also in England's World Cup group, at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday, June 2, before traveling to Bucharest to face Romania the following Saturday. In positive news, captain Ben Davies returns from a serious ankle injury, while Connor Roberts aims to make his first competitive appearance in a year. Davies, 33, has not played since sustaining his injury in January, while Roberts, 30, has faced a long recovery after injuring himself during Wales' World Cup qualifying match against Belgium in June 2025. Additionally, Chris Mepham returns from injury, but midfielders Jordan James and Rubin Colwill, along with forwards Liam Cullen and Mark Harris, will miss out due to minor injuries.
