Harri Keddie's Dream Week: From New Dad to Wales Squad Star
Harri Keddie has experienced a transformative week, turning personal milestones into professional opportunities. The Dragons forward celebrated the birth of his second daughter and received his call-up to the Wales summer squad, marking a significant moment in his career. Keddie, who was named in the 48-strong squad by coach Steve Tandy, expressed his joy, stating, "It's been a pretty good week to be fair." He received the news during a family outing, which added to the excitement of becoming a father again. As one of 10 back row forwards selected, Keddie will join his Dragons teammates Aaron Wainwright and Ryan Woodman among others. Despite the end of the Dragons' season with a dramatic United Rugby Championship (URC) draw against Scarlets, Keddie is ready to shift focus. After spending a few weeks with his family, he will transition from fatherhood to the Wales camp, with sights set on participating against the Barbarians and securing a spot for upcoming Nations Championship matches against Fiji, Argentina, and South Africa. Reflecting on his journey, Keddie recalled his involvement with the Wales Under-20s during their Six Nations Grand Slam campaign a decade ago. Now, as a seasoned player, he aims to leverage his experience and resilience, similar to Olly Cracknell, who debuted for Wales at 31. "I just feel incredibly privileged to have been deemed good enough to get called up," Keddie remarked. He looks forward to the challenge, eager to improve and learn from his time with the national team.
