FA Investigates Alleged Discriminatory Remark in Solihull Moors vs Boston United Match

The Football Association has launched an investigation into an alleged discriminatory remark directed at referee Sunny Singh Gill during the Solihull Moors and Boston United match in the National League on Saturday. The incident occurred shortly after Conor Wilkinson of Solihull received a straight red card in the 66th minute, prompting Gill to take both teams off the field. An FA spokesperson stated: "We are aware of an alleged incident of discrimination towards the referee during the National League match between Solihull Moors and Boston United. We are taking this matter very seriously and will review the details of the match official's report before taking the appropriate action." Refereeing body PGMOL expressed its full support for Gill, confirming that he will submit his match report while collaborating with the FA on this serious matter. The match was halted for approximately 20 minutes with the score tied at 0-0 before resuming, during which Boston managed to score three goals, concluding the match at 3-0. Post-match, Solihull Moors manager Chris Millington indicated that one of his players faced the accusation, asserting: "There's been an accusation made against a player who isn't ever going to be guilty of that type of behaviour... who all tell a very different story to the one that the referee believed to be true." Boston manager Paul Hurst suggested the incident might involve a misinterpretation of a remark, stating: "The assistant has heard [a player] say a word and I think he has come up with the wrong word. I don't believe that was said and that's from numerous people out there."
