Bournemouth's Alex Scott Set for England Debut in Upcoming World Cup Friendlies

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is on the brink of making his England debut during the upcoming World Cup warm-up matches in the United States. Scott joins fellow players Rio Ngumoha, Josh King, Jason Steele, and Ethan Nwaneri as supplementary members of the England squad currently in Florida for their preparation camp. The squad awaits the arrival of Arsenal stars Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke, along with Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who are returning from European finals. Henderson is expected to join the camp within the next 24 hours, while the Arsenal players are anticipated to arrive over the weekend. Despite not being selected in Thomas Tuchel's full squad for the World Cup, all five additional players are eligible to participate in the friendlies against New Zealand and Costa Rica. They will remain in Florida throughout the camp, regardless of when the other players report. Scott was part of Tuchel's provisional 55-man squad for the tournament, making him the only supplementary player likely to break into the final World Cup squad should injuries arise. The 22-year-old has a solid opportunity to earn his first cap in one of the upcoming friendlies before his summer break. Previously, Scott received his first senior call-up for matches against Serbia and Albania in November but did not play. He was excluded from matches against Japan and Uruguay in March and ultimately left out of the final 26-man World Cup selection. Tuchel expressed his satisfaction with the inclusion of these extra players, particularly praising Scott's commitment and character: "The reaction of him was outstanding... I'm delighted that he's with us because it was a close call."
