Malik Willis Joins Miami Dolphins on Three-Year Deal After Stellar Packers Tenure

Malik Willis is set to embark on a new chapter as he signs with the Miami Dolphins after a successful stint as a backup quarterback for Jordan Love with the Green Bay Packers. This move, confirmed by CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones, sees Willis agree to a lucrative three-year contract worth $67.5 million, which includes $45 million guaranteed. In Miami, Willis reunites with Jeff Hafley, the newly appointed Dolphins coach who previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Packers. Hafley appears to have specifically selected Willis to take over the starting role, as the Dolphins have announced plans to release former first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa. Willis, a 2022 third-round pick, had a limited but impactful tenure with the Tennessee Titans, where he made only three starts over two seasons. His journey took a turn when Tennessee traded him to the Packers before the 2024 season for a 2025 seventh-round pick. During his time with Green Bay, he went 2-0 as the starter, showcasing impressive accuracy by completing 74.3% of his passes, throwing three touchdowns without any interceptions. His performance peaked in the last season, where he played four games and achieved a remarkable 85.7% completion rate, again throwing three touchdowns and no interceptions. Notably, in Week 17, he delivered a standout performance against the Baltimore Ravens, completing 18 of 21 passes for 288 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for two scores. This display undoubtedly enhanced his market value heading into free agency.
