Leeds Chairman Hopes Daniel Farke Stays Beyond 2024 Amid Ambitious Plans

Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe expressed his desire for manager Daniel Farke to remain at Elland Road "much beyond this year." Since taking charge in July 2023, Farke has guided the team to a 14th-place finish upon their return to the Premier League in the 2025/26 season. Under contract until the summer of 2027, Farke previously indicated that he may step down if the club's ambitions do not align with his own. In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Marathe emphasized the strong communication between him and Farke, stating: "Daniel and I talk all the time about the squad and the club's direction." "Neither one of us is jumping off that train; I hope Daniel is here this year and beyond." Marathe confirmed that discussions about a contract extension are confidential but reiterated the importance of Farke’s role at the club. Additionally, Marathe announced that Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu has signed a new four-year contract. He praised Ampadu's leadership and commitment, highlighting his impact both on and off the pitch since joining from Chelsea in July 2023. Looking ahead, Marathe acknowledged the need for squad improvement, stating: "The bar has been raised" since last season. "We are pursuing inbounds and will be strategic about our signings." He reassured supporters that the club remains committed to strengthening the squad while navigating financial regulations, emphasizing a careful approach to player acquisitions.
