Celtic Triumphs Over Glasgow City in Thrilling Women's Scottish Cup Semifinal

Celtic secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Glasgow City after extra time, booking their spot in the Women's Scottish Cup final for the first time in three years. Saoirse Noonan opened the scoring with a header in the first half, putting Celtic in a strong position until Linda Motlhalo equalized for City with a powerful strike in the 83rd minute, forcing the match into extra time. Despite City’s hopes of completing a domestic treble after winning the SWPL Cup, Celtic took control early in extra time: Amy Gallacher restored Celtic's lead just two minutes in with a precise strike. Shannon McGregor then extended the advantage, scoring a brilliant third goal just before halftime in extra time. City managed to pull one back in the final minute through substitute Emily Grey, who found the net after a scramble in the box. However, it was not enough to turn the tide, leaving City to focus on closing the gap in the SWPL where they trail Hearts by four points. Celtic will return to Hampden on Sunday, 31 May, where they will face the winners of the match between Rangers and Montrose, scheduled for 13:30 BST.
