Brentford Shows Growth in Goalless Draw Against Fulham

Keith Andrews highlighted Brentford's progress following their goalless draw with Fulham. The match marked the return of former Bees boss Thomas Frank, who watched from the stands for the first time since his sacking by Tottenham in February. His former team, now vying for a European spot, was only denied a victory by a breathtaking late save from Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who thwarted a potential winner from Dango Ouattara. Andrews, appointed in June to replace Frank, commented on the significance of the match: "It’s really good that he’s come back to watch the game because he’s been a huge part of this club’s recent history." He reflected on the team's evolution since their previous encounter with Fulham on September 20, where they were outclassed. Andrews noted: "I think you can see the evolution of our team. They’d been together for numerous years under the same head coach, and now we are a team that can compete with anybody in this league." Despite the draw, Brentford has now recorded five consecutive stalemates, with Andrews asserting: "I’m struggling right now to think of a game that we deserve to lose." Conversely, Fulham struggled offensively, failing to register a single shot on target. Manager Marco Silva expressed disappointment, stating: "It was not the result we wanted. We came with a mission to win the game... but losing Alex had an impact." Leno's crucial save was pivotal, as he described the moment: "I wasn’t even sure if the ball was in or not but then I saw all my team-mates coming over to me. It was important for us because I think we deserved a point today."
