Buffalo Bills Boost Offense with DJ Moore Trade from Chicago Bears

The Buffalo Bills are set to enhance their offense by acquiring wide receiver DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears, as reported by multiple media outlets on Thursday. While the specifics of what the Bears will receive in return remain unclear, the trade cannot be finalized until the new league year commences on March 11. This strategic move provides former MVP Josh Allen with a much-needed asset in the Bills’ passing game, which has struggled recently due to a shortage of dependable receivers. Moore will join an offensive lineup that includes fellow wideout Khalil Shakir and tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox. Additionally, this trade marks a reunion with Joe Brady, the Bills’ head coach, who previously served as Moore's offensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers from 2020 to 2021, during which Moore exceeded 1,100 receiving yards in both seasons. The Bears made this move partly due to the emergence of Rome Odunze, whom they selected with the ninth overall pick in 2024. They also drafted Luther Burden in the second round last year, enabling them to part ways with Moore. Last season, Moore, 28, recorded career lows with 50 catches and 682 receiving yards, along with six touchdowns over 17 games. Over his career, he has amassed 608 receptions for 8,213 yards and 41 touchdowns in 131 games played with the Panthers and Bears. Moore, selected by Carolina as the 24th overall pick in the 2018 draft, remains under contract through the 2029 season, with a scheduled salary of $23.5 million in 2026.
