Barcelona Intensifies Pursuit of Rising Star Jesse Bisiwu from Club Brugge

Barcelona has ramped up its efforts to recruit emerging talent across Europe with Deco now at the helm as Director of Football. The latest player on their radar is Jesse Bisiwu, an 18-year-old winger who has been linked with the Catalan club since December. Bisiwu first caught Barcelona's attention during the under-17 World Cup in November, where he showcased his skills over four appearances. In February, his agent confirmed that Barcelona had made contact regarding the player, although he noted that several other major clubs were also interested, which is typical in such situations. Recently, Barcelona has escalated its pursuit of Bisiwu: Joao Amaral, the Head of Scouting, initiated contact with Club Brugge earlier this week. Amaral attended the UEFA Youth League final on Monday night, where Brugge faced Real Madrid. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Real Madrid winning on penalties. During the match, Amaral communicated Barcelona's interest in Bisiwu, aiming for a potential summer transfer. Both Amaral and Deco have recently met with the player’s agents in Brussels. Despite Barcelona's interest, Club Brugge remains optimistic about Bisiwu's future with them. The player is under contract until 2027, and the club is focused on retaining talented academy players until they establish themselves in the senior team. They are currently following this strategy with Bisiwu.
