Tottenham Secures Andy Robertson on Free Transfer from Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur has officially signed Andy Robertson, the Scotland captain, on a free transfer after his contract with Liverpool expired this summer. The 32-year-old left-back will officially join the Spurs on 1 July. Robertson's move comes after he announced his departure from Liverpool, where he had a remarkable tenure since joining from Hull City in 2017. During his time at Liverpool, he made 378 appearances and secured numerous honors, including: Two Premier League titles Champions League trophy Two League Cups FA Cup Tottenham initially targeted Robertson during the January transfer window, but the deal fell through when Liverpool couldn't recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma. Under new manager Roberto de Zerbi, Spurs managed to secure their Premier League status on the final day of the season with a victory over Everton. De Zerbi praised Robertson, stating, "Andy is someone I've admired for a number of years and he will bring outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership, and mentality to our team. He is a proven winner at the highest level over a long period and is someone who can be a big player for us, both on and off the pitch." Johan Lange, Tottenham's sporting director, echoed this sentiment, highlighting Robertson's quality and leadership as vital for the club's ambitions. He noted, "Andy's professionalism and commitment will also be invaluable to the development of our squad, and he shares our ambition and determination to bring success back to the club." Robertson will add to his 92 caps for Scotland as he prepares to lead his country in the upcoming World Cup this summer.
